Algebra I - M Trevino - 1st Block
Algebra I explores linear concepts such as slope, intercepts, systems, and inequalities. Non-linear topics include quadratics, exponentials, and laws of power concepts. Algebra I serves as the foundation to Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics.

GENERAL OVERVIEW
AND EXPECTATIONS: English III Pre-AP is a course in which students will engage in activities that build on their prior knowledge and skills in order to strengthen their reading, writing and oral language skills to better prepare them for college level work. Students are expected to read and write on a daily basis. The primary expectation is to not only pass the TAKS test minimum, but to excel in al its components. Students’ expectations are to rise to the SAT, ACT and THEA challenge.

English Language Arts
Students will read various genres of English literature, including short stories, poetry, the drama, and one novel during their freshman English year. Students will learn to read with fluency, learn to think critically about the readings, and to decode meaning. They will also learn many new vocabulary words and literary terms and be able to apply them with fluency. During the course of the semester, students will be responsible for writing several essays and one research paper, written in MLA format. All students will be well-prepared for the TAKS test by the end of the course.
