Welcome to Concepts of Algebra!

We, the students of Mrs. Cavazos class, are here to learn.  We will always be fair, respectful, trustworthy, and responsible students. We will treat others the way we would like to be treated and be prepared to learn. We are a class that is serious about our learning. We, Algbera I students, will overcome any challenges and do our best to be prepared for what’s to come.

This course will include a study of number and algebraic methods; describing and graphing linear functions, equations, and inequalities; writing and solving linear functions, equations and inequalities; quadratic functions and equations; and exponential functions and equations.  Inductive and deductive reasoning will be used in problem solving situations, with emphasis on real world applications. Students will continue with Extended Algebra in the spring and are required to take the STAAR EOC Algebra I in May.

Classroom Expectations:

  • Arrive on time, get your materials ready, and be seated.  Do not loiter in the hallway or doorway.  Class will start as the bell rings.
  • If you arrive late, enter the classroom and get prepared without disturbing others.  Do not interrupt class proceedings.
  • Hallway passes shall not be given during the first or last 15 minutes of class.  Restroom passes will be limited to 10 per semester.
  • Unless otherwise specified, electronic devices must be placed on airplane mode and put away during class time.  Devices and headphones will be confiscated if visible.
