INSTRUCTOR’S PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Claudia Saenz earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in International Business Management, a major in Marketing, and a minor in French, from The University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, Texas. As part of her undergraduate education, Mrs. Saenz studied abroad at the Universite Laval in Quebec, Canada, and the University of Paris in France. She has worked as a Business Education instructor at United ISD for fourteen years. She has also taught World Affairs, Economics, and French courses at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico. She currently teaches IBUS 1300, EPCT 2300, IBUS 1302, and IBUS 2345 as a dual education instructor with Laredo College. In 2019 Mrs. Saenz obtained a Master of Arts in Communication degree specializing in Organizational Communication in Transnational Settings from Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas.
LIST OF COURSES AND DESCRIPTIONS
Global Business
Global Business is designed for students to analyze global trade theories, international monetary systems, trade policies, politics, and laws relating to global business as well as cultural issues, logistics, and international human resource management.
Human Resource Management
Human Resources Management is designed to familiarize students with the concepts related to human resource management, including legal requirements, recruitment and employee selection methods, and employee development and evaluation. Students will also become familiar with compensation and benefits programs as well as workplace safety, employee-management relations, and global impacts on human resources.
IBUS 1300 – Global Logistics Management
Develop skills and understanding of global logistics processes, procedures, and regulations used in transportation, physical distribution, warehousing, inventory control, materials, packaging, plant and warehouse location, risk management, and networks for logistics, suppliers, and information. Utilize decision-making and case-resolution techniques to solve problems and develop logistical and information networks for supply chain management appropriate for global corporations.
EPCT 2300 – DOT Regulations
A detailed study of the United States Department of Transportation regulations with emphasis on identifying applicable regulations recommending compliance strategies in the transport of dangerous and hazardous materials. Examination of the regulatory requirements for employees and employers involved in all modes of transportation, including road, rail, aircraft, and vessel.
IBUS 1302 – Principles of Imports
Practices and processes of import management operations. Includes government controls and compliance. Emphasizes the preparation and understanding of import documents such as customs invoices, packing lists, and commercial invoices.
IBUS 2345 – Import Customs Regulations
Duties and responsibilities of the licensed customs broker such as processes for customs clearance including appraisement, bonded warehouse entry, examination of goods, harmonized tariffs, fees, bonding, penalties, quotas, immediate delivery, consumption, and liquidation, computerized systems, laws, and regulations.
