COURSE DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this course is to read, understand, and analyze Communication, and to develop its correct use. This course will encourage students to become successful in participating in professional and social life settings, learn about the different types of communication and learn ways to effectively communicate. They will also learn to evaluate communication skills needed for professional, social, interpersonal situations, group interactions, and personal presentations. In order to better prepare you for college, the course will consist of the following: notes, outline, discussions, several timed in-class presentations/group activities, mini tests and quizzes, homework and daily assignments.
GRADING
Evaluations will be based on successful completion of:

● Tests
● Participation on activities
● Presentations
LATE ASSIGNMENTS
● Late assignments will be accepted according to my judgment, and can earn full credit if done correctly

CHEATING/PLAGIARISM
● Duplicating another student’s work = 0
● Student Facilitating the cheating = 0

● Come into class with a “CAN DO” attitude
● Must wear appropriate attire
● LISTEN, LOOK, & RESPOND
● Show courtesy and respect towards others
● Do not be a distraction
● If you are confused about something, let me know
● No profanity (please try your best)
● There is no such thing as a dumb question
Restroom and breaks
● There will be breaks throughout the class time
● If at any point you must go to the restroom, just raise your hand and I will let you go
EXTRA POINTS
Students will have the opportunity throughout the 9 weeks to earn extra points to add to any assignment/test grade but may not add to a 0 (you must do assignment/test grade in order to add points).
DISCIPLINARY CONSEQUENCES
1. Verbal Warning
2. Referral process (documentation and call parents)
3. Student-Teacher Conference/ Parent/Guardian Conference on phone or google meets/Severe Offense/ Referral submission to administrator
