Mathematics

My name is Mrs. Mayra N Garcia and I am your child’s Math teacher this semester. I have 13 years of teaching experience (Certified Mathematics 4^th-8^th, Mathematics 8^th-12^th, and English as a Second Language Supplemental 4^th-12^th). 

I love teaching and I am constantly looking for trainings to get updated on the changes on my curriculum. Please know that I understand the importance of education and preparing our students for graduation, college, and the real world. Hard work and dedication are my expectations of your child and together we can accomplish all tasks set forth. I am readily available to assist you and your child to ensure his/her success. I believe that communication with parents is crucial; therefore, I am available for any concerns that may arise throughout the semester. My content this semester is Algebra I/STAAR Algebra I, College Prep Math; we’ll be focusing on material and strategies to pass the Algebra STAAR Test, or TSI Test (Mathematics portion) depending on the class.

My Principles will help students to be more prepared for the Algebra STAAR Test as well as for the TSI college readiness exam by guiding the students on how to approach math questions throughout the semester using similar questions and settings as the actual test. I expect my students to come to school every day, be on time, and ready to learn. Please be informed that we have a policy for late work and no cell phone use is allowed in the classroom. I also adhere to the dress code and behavior guidelines. I have shared this information with my students and would like for my students to understand that deadlines matter, since I am getting them ready for real life. Note that it is my goal to make a positive impact in your son’s/daughter’s life and also to make them grow in knowlegde throughout the semester.
