Welcome to Construction Technology
Hello, my name is Carlos Lozano and I am the Construction Technology Teacher here at Unites South High School Main Campus. I am in my 12th year as a construction technology teacher but I have been in the construction industry full-time for over 24 years now. Our Construction Technology Pathway consists of 3 courses, which are as follows: Principles of Construction is the beginner course, which is one semester. Ideally. Ideally, you would want to take the 1st part of this pathway any semester during your sophomore year or in the fall of your junior year. Construction Technology II is the second part and is also one semester, which you would want to take your junior year. Construction Technology II is the advanced class and this class spans out for an entire year. Throughout the span of these courses, students will learn about shop safety, careers in construction, proper and safe hand and power tool use, reading and creating blueprints, and we will go over each process of building a house or structure from start to finish. Students will also be eligible to receive an NCCER Core Certification that is recognized nationwide. This NCCER Core Certification prepares individuals for entry-level positions on project sites by providing the basics in safety, hand and power tools, construction math, materials handling, construction drawings, rigging, and employability skills. Students can obtain the NCCER Core Certification by passing a series of written tests and hands-on performance evaluations and completing the 3 courses of the Construction Technology Pathway.
