Welcome to USHS! Home of the Panthers!
Greetings parents, guardians, and students! I am Mrs. Sherly Delgado, and I am thrilled to welcome you to a new school year at United South High School. As your World History teacher, I look forward to guiding you through the fascinating events, cultures, and individuals that have shaped our world. This year promises to be an exciting journey as we explore history together, not just as a series of dates and facts, but as a living narrative that connects us all.
In this course, students will not only learn about the past, but also discover how history influences our present and future. We will examine the social, political, economic, cultural, and religious developments that have left a lasting impact on the world. Through diverse activities such as discussions, research projects, Document-Based Question (DBQ) essays, and interactive presentations, students will engage with history in a way that is both challenging and rewarding.
I believe that history is more than just a subject—it’s a story of humanity. My goal is to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where every student feels valued, respected, and inspired to learn. I encourage open communication, critical thinking, and active participation, and I am committed to helping each student succeed.
I understand the importance of keeping parents and guardians informed. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email at sherly.garcia@uisd.net or by phone at (956) 473-5400 ext. 5502. Additionally, I use the Remind app to send updates and reminders about assignments, quizzes, and other important information. Both parents and students are encouraged to sign up to stay connected.
This year will be filled with opportunities for growth, discovery, and success. I am excited to share my passion for history with you and look forward to the many learning experiences we will have together. Let’s work together to make this a memorable and successful year!
